Capoeira is a martial art that combines elements of fight, acrobatics, music, dance and rituals in a very elegant and magnetic way. Performed by two people, a Capeira bout is playful, more akin to a game than a fight, and always played with a smile, in the face of danger.
Capoeira develops physical strength, power and flexibility, as well as self-confidence, concentration, courage and creativity, and our Year 8s were up for the challenge!
Keep an eye out for some key Capoeira moves at this year's WAVE performances.
In other sports news this term, our High School girls netball team (pictured above) headed down to the regional competition in Tweed Heads recently, with a display of genuine enthusiasm and teamwork across all three games. All the players enjoyed themselves and gave their best while representing the School.
Next month it will be the Primary School's turn to play some netball at their regionals competition, also in Tweed Heads.
